Rita held her first tenure-track Assistant and Associate Professor position at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with joint appointments in the Department of Psychology and the Curriculum in Neurobiology. She joined the Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience Department as an Associate Professor in 2013 and was promoted to Professor in 2018.
